New CBBC/CBeebies Presentation

Interesting that THREE is still pink in that, and they've used a Dancing With The Stars logo and not Strictly Come Dancing.

I believe that’s because, even though our version came first, DWTS is the brand name that sells well and the SCD name isn’t used outside of the UK.

Exactly. 'Strictly Come Dancing' means nothing to anyone outside the UK (and quite frankly, many people in the UK). 'Dancing with the Stars' is much more descriptive - particularly important to non-English-speaking countries.

Yeah, the name Strictly Come Dancing is a combination of the names Strictly Ballroom and Come Dancing. Outside the UK, Come Dancing is an unknown brand, so they dropped the reference to Strictly Ballroom and just went with a name that's exactly what it says on the tin.

That graphic is from November last year at the latest - because that's when the new Doctor Who logo was revealed, and the graphic has the previous one on it. So, yes, definitely also before the kids channels' new logos were created. Though you'd think they'd have just used the old ones.

Though I believe the basic 'onion' graphic is something that's been around since fairly early in the Reith rollout. I recall there was a clip of a presentation from several years back explaining how they were going to originally implement it (including keeping the 1997 logo) with a similarly structured black-and-white chart, though, given the on the hoof nature of the rebrand, few of the same branding elements.

Didn’t a similar graphic appear on an episode of W1A? Or maybe it’s the reference to ‘Curator Brands’ instead of ‘channels’ that’s put that in my mind. Wink

I found a case study of the CBeebies rebrand, and you wouldn't believe me when I say who made it, but it was Blue Zoo, who also made many CBeebies identities, like the CBeebies house, and certain shows like the 3 Learningblocks shows on CBeebies.

They've done a stellar job in keeping the brand fresh whilst still incorporating the preschool fun of the original 2002 look.

They have. We have CBeebies on a lot and it’s beautifully done. Now I’ve read it’s Blue Zoo it makes complete sense the people behind Alpha and Numberblocks produced it!
