Just noticed tonight's Blue Peter Christmas Special (yes, it's the 8th December) is also being simulcast on CBeebies.

They've been doing that for a few years now. There definitely seems to be a lot more overspill these days between CBeebies, CBBC and even BBC Three.
CBBC have been showing the CBeebies show Octonauts for a few months now, Shaun the Sheep and Arthur have popped up on CBeebies in the past few years and BBC Three shown the children's drama Phoenix Rise before CBBC. BBC Three have also aired acquired kids shows The Next Step, Crazy Fun Park and Gremlins: Secrets of The Mogwai - the latter two are yet to be shown on CBBC.

Back to presentation though and CBeebies never fails really - their Christmas pres looks really good.

Gone are the days of the Christmas special airing on Christmas Eve! To think that in the 90s live children’s programmes and continuity would continue right up until the big day (I’m sure Live & Kicking was also live on Christmas Day in 1993), and usually take a break with pre recorded highlights between Christmas and New Year, now for some reason the few live shows that there are wrap up early in December.
I’ve always assumed the simulcast is because it’s a big Christmas show, and a way of getting younger CBeebies viewers used to the Blue Peter brand.

Going Live! became the pre-rec Gone Live! between Christmas and New Year. In 1993, there was Almost Live, Definitely Kicking, then L&K was live between Christmas and New Year for the next couple of years. Almost Live, Definitely Kicking returned after that.

Newsround came from its current home for the final time this morning, as it moves to a temporary set from Monday.

The set has been little more than a screen and sofa for years really. Quite surprised they still do weekend editions to be honest.

The Saturday bulletin goes out on BBC Two as part of the children's block in the morning - suspect it does well.
Reckon the temp set might actually look nicer than the previous set...

Are we sure this is temp and not the new norm?
