Talk TV

Interesting times.

I expect Julia H-B (in her previous slot) and Mike Graham both do well with their radio ratings which are Talk's bread and butter.

I thought James Whale's prime time 7pm show had lost a lot of it's humour and banter compared to the 10pm slot. James hadn't his buzzer to get rid of callers he disagreed with, there was no TV Hell, Chuck Thomas only made a brief appearance towards the end, there weren't any unusual guests, the topics were fairly sensible and he was obviously minding his language due to being on before the watershed. I feel the original 10pm show was superior, but it may revert back, it was only the 1st week tonight.

It may be health reasons as well for the swap.

Danielle is still with Andre, it's basically the Talkaway at a later time with a new name.

It looks like some of the 'local' TV stations have now rebranded themselves to be inline with TalkTV, having already simulcast the channel during most of the day. For example "Birmingham TV" is now "TalkBirmingham".

A rather clever move by News UK as a way of helping TalkTV to survive. Essentially it gives them the channel 7 position, which I imagine is likely to increase ratings via those scrolling through the channels. It's not clear what the "local programming" consists of during the opt-outs, as to whether that's local news or not.

Hmm... I'd be inclined to argue we're sort of flogging a dead horse here so far as local TV on Channel 7 is concerned...

I caught one of the local blocks on 'Talk Birmingham' a few weeks ago - and it's clutching at straws at best.

It's a half-hour block - the local content usually consists of one story package and a brief news round-up at the top and a weather forecast at the end (in total, about 6-7 minutes worth)

The rest of the block is padded out by quite generic syndicated content - much the same material that you'd find on the sister Shots TV (i.e. Zoom chats and smartphone PTCs etc)

In other words, getting away with as little as possible.

Quite an unfortunate technical hitch at the start of David Bull’s show. Around 3 minutes of jolly upbeat music played with no sound from his microphone. This occurred while pictures from Gaza played.

TalkTV changes from next Monday. Mike Graham moves to 9pm and Kevin O'Sullivan & Alex Phillips replace him at 10am.

I wonder if this is in response to those rumours that someone 'big' from TalkTV was in conversations with GB News? As I'd expect the 9pm slot is the one GB News are looking to recruit for, for obvious reasons...

Kevin & Alex are doing 9.30-10, Julia is doing 10-1.
