Ident promoting the change

That is a really good ident! And the sonic branding sounds very good! I bet Zelig Sound might've done this, but it could be Echolab as well. IDK. I'm just guessing based off previous projects from both music and sound design agencies.

Blockman or 'Giant' looks like it's getting phased out, so it would be a bit pointless to do so.

I do hope we get those artist-designed idents. I'm excited to see their takes on the iconic logo.

You can’t cope with 4 syllables? And how is extra more concise than x? Extra tells you what the channel is, more of e4. X is literally just a letter.

I'm pretty sure any channel with the word X after it shows that it's a sister channel to another, especially if it's a well-known brand such as E4 is. Plus, those CBS channels exist under confusing Xtra titles nowadays, so yeah.

Do you think we'll end up with only these 2 very similar basic coloured Channel 4 idents as the complete "rebrand" once the blockman is retired - if it is retired ? Or won't the channel look a bit too samey after a few weeks? Or that may be the idea - brand consistency?

Channel 4 is getting new main idents this year, so it won't just be two. With any luck, it'll be more than 4 idents.

I’m still not entirely convinced. I know it’s being rolled out bit by bit and I love the gradient box concept, but there’s something about it all that really feels quite cold and robotic. I think that one of the advantages of Linear TV is how human it feels compared to streaming, and unfortunately i’m not getting a lot of that same warmth from it right now.

Definitely agree here. I’m not really sure if there’s a plan behind this or not because it doesn’t feel like there is. Doing it all bit by bit makes no sense either. It’s all a very out of character miss from Channel 4.
