Channel 4 Pres: 2023 - Present

Just now on Channel 4, going into Becoming Elizabeth, there were two continuity announcements at the same time. One on top of the other. Very odd.

EDIT - apologies, beaten to it

I've noticed that Channel 4 now urge you to watch programmes thusly:

"Stream or watch live at (x o'clock)"... and by 'live', they mean 'on linear TV' (not 'live' as in 'happening right now').

What are your thoughts on this? Stretching the definition of 'live' I think, no?

I'm guessing E4 Extra has now moved to being played out by C4 rather than The BOX as the trailers seem to be more for C4 now than the other BOX channels.

There were some other Box channels oddities, if I recall correctly, but I don’t remember the details. That would also provide a playout clue and potential confirmation of the change.

I would assume, generally, that E4 shows would be advertised a lot on E4 Extra.

Yes I believe so. The main giveaway for me is the treatment of 4:3 content. Previously when run as part of Box Plus playout the picture and graphics stayed in 16:9 with the programme either stretched or pillarboxed. Now they are broadcast in the usual C4 way with a 4:3 safe DOG and in the case of SD 4:3 broadcasts on Sky, stretch to fill the screen.

Channel 4 were supposed to be showing the final two episodes of Becoming Elizabeth now, but they have bumped them back to a graveyard slot (starting 11.55pm) and put Mission Impossible on instead. Any ideas what's going on - it smacks of a loss of confidence?

Okay so that’s weird they have a double announcement for the programme only for it to be postponed at a later start time and be replaced by a film? 🤔

Explained in the thread in the Programming section but basically they pulled Becoming Elizabeth from primetime last night but did so in such a way it messed up their schedule for the entire weekend.  Transformers ended up airing yesterday afternoon.
