It would be chaos to try to have everyone move all at once. Some teams or portions of teams are already working in the newsrooms there.I’m honestly struggling to understand how Techwood has enough space to absorb CNN. CNN Center looks about as big as the offices at Techwood and there hasn’t been anything new constructed on the campus recently. Where exactly are they finding the space for the newsroom and studio and all the support functions?
Newsrooms are largely finished but other things are not — like the new studio.
Anchors could be LAST to move there.
Techwood is pretty massive and perhaps bigger than you realize. It's a campus. There are about 6 or so buildings in the main area, and a building or two across the highway as well.
Most of the new CNN stuff is going into a single one of those buildings that they've completely redone the insides of. Not sure what used to be in that building.
There's been a ton of restructuring in recent years with the merger and all -- so perhaps they laid off enough people to clear out an entire building? And some jobs may have been moved to NY (talking about WBD as a whole, not necessarily just CNN).
Also, some departments that were at CNN Center aren't expected to have much of a presence at Techwood, like CNN en Espanol (they will largely be in Mexico City and Miami, etc).
And CNN Center isn't as big as it looks from the outside - remember, a big chunk of the building is the Omni hotel.
