One night so far for her, but two nights now including the previous night. Only one successful night from Techwood (Friday into Saturday).

How embarrassing… moving to Techwood before everything is ready, clearly. Why not wait until everything is working perfectly? Why the rush?

Pretty sure CNN has at least another month available at CNN Center, possibly slightly more if needed.

And sorry for another post… did not see an option to edit my previous one.

Maybe is a question of delays in the New Studio, either because of problems, or because of the changes so far. We are not even counting part of the changes on the workflow since CNN Max was launched. Maybe those changes also influenced the set construction. But Is an irrelevant guess from my part

King Charles (yes, they kept that name!) launches next Wednesday, November 29th.

Its airing time, however, has changed - instead of 9pm ET, the show will regularly air at 10pm ET (with the exception of Dec 6, whrn it will air at 9pm due to Republican primary debate)

I’m not sure what’s more embarrassing, having to go back to your old building after a day, or having one of your anchors describe the place you’re broadcasting international news from as “makeshift”.

Techwood is a multi-studio operation home to various NBA and NHL productions. It’s baffling that something went wrong with CNN’s temporary one-camera setup and that there were no other studio options besides going back to CNN Center.

Quest Means Business, CNNI's prime time star program, has been using a “makeshift” studio for years now. Overnights using one for a few weeks/months is no big deal really.

One shot close ups for hours is a standard these days, not just on CNN, sadly.

I think the difference here is that even for a flash studio, what’s a Techwood is makeshift.

There WILL be more permanent, slick flash studios… but those don’t seem to be ready yet, along with the main studio.

Seems like they just kind of threw a camera and desk somewhere…. And there have been issues with it.  Will they be back at Techwood tonight?  Who knows.

CNN certainly cant take over a NBA or NHL for CNNI. The cost of firing up one those studios would be insane. Likely there is a budget for each channel that uses those studios and programmes. So its not just a matter of popping down the hall and turn on the lights. Not mentioning the staff needed. Probably made sense to pop back over to CNN Center since The weekend CNN Domestic shows are still there. I dont see the bill deal.
They are rather extensive sets.

My mentioning the NBA and NHL was only to establish Techwood as an existing large-scale broadcast facility. It’s surprising that the simplest addition posible (one camera, prompter, monitor, mic, printer) managed to cause enough of an issue to go back to CNN Center. It just doesn’t feel like a lot could’ve gone wrong, yet it did. I also would’ve expected Techwood to have another flash studio on campus, which doesn’t seem like the case.

Is it a big deal? No, but we need something to talk about here.

No. you are right.. just giving another perspective. Not arguing with you mate. Seems like there maybe have been a technical issue. Maybe a transmission issue or something. They set these flash things up on remote locations all the time. So maybe some redundancies failed. Smile
