Thank you for this ginnyfan, huge piece of work.

The 2006 white package was something special if never entirely quite right for the sets as ginnyfan mentioned. Solid lineup and Hong Kong always punched above its weight even though you could tell management didn’t see its value. CNNI’s strength at the time was its reliable schedule, a lot of care taken to not Americanise the talent, rundown, graphics or music. The warmth and moments of fun was a breath of fresh air compared to World at the time. That 2006 package was hugely influential for news design which we still see across the globe today.

Go beyond boarders was the beginning of the end and probably it’s lowest point for graphics post 2006 white package. Weird presenting changes did not help, I found Zain Verjee terribly overrated compared to Max and Monita and Your World Today was broken up for naff appointment viewing. Idesk was the best new thing at the time.

Of course HK got the chop entirely despite having some of the best talent and output. The whole Asia region continues to be terribly underserved by the big channels, despite the region’s growth, dynamism and lack of trusted and free outlets. Huge gap in the market and opportunity if only management somewhere would see it.

CNNI is simulcasting Domestic this hour (1pm ET) while Max is still getting Amanpour.

At 2pm ET CNNI still simulcasts with no Isa Soares Tonight... Is Max airing her show or rather its own Jim Sciutto?

Max is airing Jim Sciutto.  2pm is his usual slot… and he’s also supposed to be there for breaking news during other hours as well.  That’s what made last Friday so unusual, but someone else said he was anchoring News Central instead.

So at 3pm… will CNNI stick with Domestic or air QMB?  Either way, I’m sure CNNI will still have to produce it for Max.

We have our answer.  CNNI choosing to air CNN U.S. while it still produces Quest Means Business for Max.

So weird.  So QMB is good enough for Max but not for CNNI?

I took a quick pic for proof.  Not that anyone would doubt me Big Grin. Max does not allow for screenshots easily, so I took the pic on my phone of my computer screen (and had to compress it way down for it to meet the upload size requirements).

Thank you so much for the screencap! Weird arrangement, indeed...

I wonder if cable providers might have been further displeased with cable CNNI sharing coverage with CNN Max and that might have caused initial arrangements to change...

Ridiculous. CNNI people now working for Max while international gets domestic. Also, what is that background behind Richard?

It almost certainly is CNN's Abu Dhabi studio, where CTW usually airs from, just in evening lights. (Alternatively, it might be a cupboard studio in Abu Dhabi as well, but I don't think that's the case.) Earlier today Richard showed up a couple of times on CNN News Central with that background as well.

Based on the trailers that are airing, it looks like King Charles will be broadcast in New York Studio 19Y.
