Eurovision Song Contest 2023

The ROW vote I find interesting as it allows countries with a eurovision past (and therefore a fan base) to continue to interact with the contest whilst their country doesn't compete.   I'm thinking Bulgaria,  North Macedonia,  Russia......

Voting for Junior Eurovision opens at 7pm. Interestingly in the UK you have to log in via your BBC account, I don't think any other countries do this and normally it's a one-size fits all website for the whole world with no log in whatsoever. Not sure if there's some BBC rule regarding voting and fairness that has meant this has to happen?

Unfortunately Freya's not had any live vocal rehearsals yet due to "medical reasons" and missed all rehearsals today which is shame. Hopefully she'll be rested and better by the time of the jury rehearsal tomorrow. The video that will be used for voting tonight uses playback from the first rehearsal.

Although there's been a fair amount of promo on various shows over the last few weeks I haven't actually seen an advert for the live show itself, has anyone seen one?

Answered here:
www.bbc.co.uk  - "There are strict rules in place when it comes to online voting and this allows the BBC to meet its very high regulatory requirements for a robust broadcast vote, specific to the UK."

Unusually for Eurovision the Junior contest under-ran by five minutes. Generally well produced though the hosts were quite poor throughout.

Freya managed fifth overall and actually won the online vote. Not bad at all considering today was the first time all week she's actually been able to sing it live. She still wasn't 100% but cleverly they got two of the backing singers to sing the highest notes in the verses which she would've struggled with otherwise. The big note at the end became an audience shoutout instead as well.

I absolutely loathe the winners France. They've already confirmed they'll host next year. Will be interesting see what the ratings will be in the UK, I'd guess a few hundred thousand.

No filter on the Loreen strobing performance, looks much better in full fps & brightness.

I think that gives us a clue who may host the main event, alongside Graham assuming he wants to do it.

They’ll have to have some entertaining performances in this show to make it watchable for the wider public on BBC2, it’s a pretty dull affair altogether, it’s not even a running order draw any more!

Maybe AJ will get the gig but I can’t see Rylan being anything more than a green room host really. Graham’s already ruled out hosting it I believe.

That’s interesting, apparently he said that in October. Why not Rylan though?

“I don’t want to give up the commentating. If I stop the commentating, someone else will do it and they might be better than me and then I’ll lose that job …Well, I might wander on and wave, and then run back to my rabbit hutch and put my ear things on.”

From the quote given, it wouldn’t surprise me if you get a situation like 1998 with Graham on stage for the start and end with Rylan and AJ hosting throughout at least for the final. It’s a shame because Graham speaking to the spokesman directly during voting for the Eurovision Dance Contests was probably even better than him commentating on it.
