TV Predictions for 2024
#18

Looks like the time has came once again.

ITV News has a long overdue rebrand after 11 years of the same look.

Laura Kuenssberg fronts the BBC’s Election coverage, with Victoria Derbyshire or Jo Coburn on interviews.

Casualty to be axed. The break it has had this Autumn, Derek Thompson’s departure, the demise of Holby City and last year’s scheduling opposite England World Cup matches seemingly goes to show the BBC have no more interest in keeping it around for long. US dramas such as The Bold Type and Gossip Girl take it's place in the Saturday slot.

Survivor is recommissioned in spite of it’s poor ratings and reception, but does not return until 2025 and with heavy format changes that see a move to BBC Two during the week with repeats on Three. It does respectfully but is not enough to warrant a third series.

The BBC runs a Saturday night schedule with Gladiators, Doctor Who and Michael McIntyre's Big Show opposite WOF, The Masked Singer and Password. TMS starts faltering in the ratings and DW starts closing in on it, outrating it by the end of it's run. Big Show comfortably beats Password.

ITV opts to launch Big Brother in September with an eight, nine or ten week run. Launch show, all evictions and final simulcast on ITV1. ITVX live feed coverage also expanded.

ITV wins the UK terrestrial rights for Clarkson’s Farm, leading to them negotiating the rights for other APV originals. They also try to acquire a few ABC/FX/Hulu shows from Disney for ITV2 following the recent acquisition of the Star original Extraordinary.

Sky News revamps their News at Ten, becoming an in-depth heavyweight bulletin once Newsnight switches to a debate format.

Verified Live and News Now are either rebranded or dropped outright, as viewers fail to tell them apart from the standard BBC News bulletins.

Challenge is given a new look, and a new schedule doubling down on it’s lifestyle content such as Bargain Hunt and Cash in The Attic.

Sky reduces the number of it's cinema channels, and also cuts low-priority entertainment channels.

Jeopardy and Riddiculous axed. Deal or No Deal is recommissioned alternating with Tipping Point in the 4pm slot, Lingo becomes the 3pm flagship, alternating with Tenable. New format tried out at 3pm as well.

Password flops and is dumped mid-run, ITV replaces it with yet more Chase repeats. Whatever episodes had been shelved are ran in the summer paired with Bond films.

Clive Myrie is formally announced as the permanent lead host for the 10.

This Morning opts not to permanently replace Holly & Philip.

"Byker" ends up in development hell and fails to materialise

UKTV quietly drops plans to rebrand it's channels with the "U&" banner, but the streaming service still rebrands as "U".
