It’s not that uncommon. Most prominent examples are probably Big Brother and the X Factor, both of which had literally loads of Irish contestants. (From the former, the likes of Anna Nolan and Brian Dowling, from the latter, who can forget Jedward or Niall Horan, and of course Louis Walsh was a near constant presence as a judge, and host Dermot O’Leary has close ties to Ireland too). Now it would possibly be stretching the term to regard the latter as a gameshow, but then, the same could be said for Gladiators!
