I remember when BBC Parliament showed the 1959 election, with introduction and closing from David Dimblebly, he said they weren't showing the following day's coverage as it doesn't exist, though there is a clip from that daytime coverage that's been repeated a fair bit of an interviewer in the street trying to find someone to talk to and everyone refusing, so at least some of it must exist (but I guess not enough for them to consider it worth repeating).
The overnight coverage wasn't complete either, as you could tell whenever there was a time check and it showed more time passing than we saw on screen, I think there was a couple of hours missing, though they'd edited it fairly seamlessly so it was hard to notice.
