The pertinent point there is who led the boardroom coup - Robert Holmes a Court. He was Australian and the IBA weren’t happy to have a non-UK citizen control an ITV company, so ACC were forced to sell the 51% of Central they still owned after the restructuring of ATV. They held on to ITC, but that was sold to Polygram later, and from there eventually to Carlton.
