France Télévisions has unveiled how it will scheme its daily Paris 2024 schedule: France 2 and France 3 will free up the entirety of its schedule for live coverage (with the exception of its JTs, Télématin and the Les Chemins de la Foi religious strand on Sundays); during these times (roughly 12h-14h and 19h-20h55, plus 8h30-12h on Sundays), France 4 will take over as an overflow service, leading to Okoo programming being cut during the Games, and, depending on overruns, also Culturebox. The lone france.tv curated stream will eventually focus on the new breed of sports being introduced to the Games (3×3 basketball, breaking, skateboarding, surfing, sport climbing...); whilst France 2 will focus on popular sports (emphasizing swimming and athletics in prime time) and France 3 will be tailored to team-driven sports.

The announcement was made during the Médias en Seine conference Wednesday, where it was also announced Radio France will temporarily restructure franceinfo radio into an Olympic-information-led service, with live coverage of events, plus service information. France Inter is also launching a daily round-up show. As a result, Radio France is staffing its small sports department, increasing payroll from 15 to around 100 journalists, plus a number of Olympics-only volunteers and an editorial partnership with L'Équipe which concludes after the Games are over.

Nine’s Paris 2024 team, announced in September, including both core Wide World of Sports and 9News personalities. James Bracey and Allison Langdon will be the primetime presenters, and Todd Woodbrige and Dylan Alcott will helm the bulk of the coverage alongside returning presenters Eddie McGuire and Leila McKinnon, who were a part of Nine’s London 2012 coverage. Additionally, the entire Today team of Karl Stefanovic, Sarah Abo, Alex Cullen and Brooke Boney, will present the morning segment of their coverage, integrated within the Today show. Roz Kelly and Tony Jones will report for the 9News TV bulletins and platforms.

Nine is really investing a lot on its coverage, not only bringing its popular line-up of commentators and expert analysts, but also a line-up of Aussie Olympians into the mix: including Ian Thorpe, Steve Hooker, Dave Culbert, Andrew Gaze, Phil Liggett, James Tomkins and more.

Unlike Seven’s recent efforts, Nine will have an on-site main studio at Trocadero Square, on the grounds of the Chaillot National Dance Theatre, which will feature XR and AR elements and a live look to the Eiffel Tower. Additionally, Nine will have exclusive cameras inside the venues and the Olympic Village, including cams for stroboscopic replays and 360 replays, low angle tracking, 3D shot visualisation and first person drones for all key sports, plus behind the scenes vanity cams and exclusive press cameras. It will also broadcast coverage from a satellite studio at the IBC, used mostly for 9News and Today live coverage, plus OBs from key events (instead of relying on a flashcam position at the MPC, also like Seven did).

Alongside live, continuous coverage on Nine and 9Gem, all of Nine's TV networks (including 9Go!, 9Life and 9Rush) will feature "Olympic-themed" specials of its regular programming. Streaming on 9Now will also have a special Olympic homepage will direct access to the networks and also the 40 special Olympic channels, plus short VOD formats recapping the day's events, plus Team Australia-specific and sport-specific summaries. Additional to radio coverage on Nine's talk stations, 2GB's Ben Fordham and 3AW's Ross and Russ breakfast shows will broadcast from Paris, and a dedicated all-Olympics radio station will be available on DAB+ local muxes (Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, Canberra, Darwin, Hobart, the Gold Coast and Mandurah).
