BBC/ITV/Sky Elections Coverage

Burnet was back for 79, of course, which titles aside appears to be absent from the two trailers (even got a glimpse or two of the 1970 election)

Peter Sissons handled the breakfast shift, according to the TV Times.

Robert Kee had made his mark on First Report (later News at One) with a style that doesn’t really seem that far removed from Tom Bradby on NaT nowadays.

Richard Lindley’s “And Finally?” book (which in hindsight appeared to predict doom for ITN in the ITV plc era, but was fortunately wide off the mark) talks about when he got into trouble for going on air with the words “Tricky Dicky strikes again!” during Watergate.

The 79 titles are on there, you can tell because it's got Thatcher's face on it, where the photos morph into letters. It's the one, as someone in the comments says, looks like a 70s sitcom. There's only a brief glimpse of the October 74 titles, but all the 59-97 titles are there apart from the 87 ones where for whatever reason they've used some behind the scenes footage instead.

not sure if this has been mentioned, but the BBC's network programme will be available with live signing on the News Channel - currently scheduled from 2155 on Thursday to 1545 on Friday (with an 50 minute break for the News at One). That's quite a marathon session - can't remember such a long stretch of live signing before.

BBC Parliament's listings show they'll be simulcasting the News Channel from 0030 on the 3rd until 1330 on the 9th.

So to summarise:
Network will be on BBC One in England, BBC Two NI, BBC Two Wales, and with signing on BBC News and BBC Parliament.
Scotland, Wales and NI all doing their own thing on BBC One. BBC Scotland's viewer will also be able to watch the BBC One Scotland programme without having to change channel.

The signer will be very tired Wink

Going to be harder for Scottish viewers to find the network coverage if they'd rather watch it, with there not being a BBC2 Scotland any more. Looks like they'll only have access to the signed version on News and Parliament without having the English versions of BBC1 on Sky or Virgin or using the iPlayer.

You’d think it could be signed on the news channel or parliament rather than both for the benefit of viewers in Scotland?

Maybe they've decided there's not enough demand for the network show in Scotland, or that people who do want to see it will be savvy enough to use the iPlayer, than to provide a broadcast outlet for the non-signed version. Does seem like with the lack of a BBC2 Scotland it is harder to find a solution, and it would seem a bit strange to use BBC Scotland for the network version.

As long as a Scottish viewer doesn't have Freeview only, they can watch the network version using other platforms.

Channel 4's programme will also be shown with signing all night, on 4Seven.

I’m sure I’m not the only one who tends to flick between the coverage on different channels, and iPlayer isn’t great for that.
