UKTV to become 'U'

Or rather closer to home for them, 'G.O.L.D. - Go On Laugh Daily'.

You'd think they'd learn.

Really do wonder what ITV/UTV is thinking about all this.

Rebrand promos have begun airing on the free UKTV channels today ahead of the 16th July rebrand. The 4 second bumpers aired during ad breaks have also been updated to include the rebrand date

Watching the promo back, it does feel like there’s a hint that they’re doing this under protest. Dave may have its faults, but it’s a channel that has always been quite proud of its branding from its 2007 inception.

The changeover slides are now live from today on Dave, Yesterday, Drama and W - where each respective announcer explains what's going on with a visual of the current channel logos changing to the U brand.

Does make one think that all they will change is the logo on the current branding. If so, another minus point for the rebrand.

Some channels will get totally new idents, others since they're relatively recent, will get a reversion.

Here's hoping "Dave ja vu" carries over.

I mentioned a few pages back Yesterday is likely to need the most work of them all to change so may end up completely new, due to the previous Y symbol being so ingrained into the makeup of the idents. But unfortunately as it wasn't just jumping on the bandwagon and finding another way to criticise the whole U rebrand the comment went largely unnoticed! I shall try harder in future! :p
