And then, there was the attempt to show Family Feud with Steve Harvey, which IIRC, barely lasted even a week before getting dropped.

It was a little more than that but not much - I want to say 2 weeks. Unusually it did totally disappear tho, normally Challenge give stuff a try in another slot but not that.
Around the same time one of the CBS channels started airing American Wheel of Fortune, again it didn't last long at all unfortunately.

Talking of Real Deal the competition these days always makes me laugh because it reminds me of this Dave Gorman clip
www.youtube.com
He literally predicted the future, considering the competition this week is for a new record of...£125,000
(OK if you want to be pendantic it runs over a 4 week period but still why go through all that stress on Deal Or No Deal when the Duke will sort you out!)

Not sure how good Challenge's brand recognition is to the layman, but there's a weekly column in today's Mirror that makes reference to how they enjoyed watching old Wheel of Fortune episodes on UK Gold...

I would wager that the Bargain Hunt and Cash in the Attic shows are being rested due to the allegations surrounding Charles Hanson, who was a regular participant as either expert or auctioneer to the point that there'll be very few shows in their acquired collection that don't feature him.

Yeah, pretty sure it was never on there - WOF was a Scottish TV show and most of UK Gold's stuff back then was BBC or Thames.

I think “UK Gold” is often used in a throwaway basic fashion when talking about watching an old programme on Sky

My nan used to have ITV3 pretty much on all day but she always called it "channel 10"
There is also that joke that until 1989 old people called Emmerdale Farm "Emmerdale", then after that they started calling it "Emmerdale Farm"...

There's a radio interview Tommy Cannon did to promote Last Laugh in Vegas and the special presentation of the show the various starts actually did out there. ITV3 aired that, but ITV1 (as it was still labelled then) was airing the reality TV element, but throughout he was referring to Channel 3 and Channel 1 until the interviewer intervened (as ITV1 was for most SD consumers, channel 3). It's a minefield, clearly for people of a certain age.

I bet a lot of older people still call ITV1 by the old regional names too - likewise in northern Scotland, saying Grampian instead of STV.
