What does that say about a channel if it scares fish? Just talk me through that.

I would say there’s not a hope in hell that the above set would fit into the small studios (such as Norwich), so does this put to bed the idea that every region is getting the same (tiny) set?

I agree, really good - BBC really raising their game when it comes to regional sets this round - pretty much for the first time, these are national-grade sets. Similar layout to the Belfast set, but with a coffee table and sofa (in the style seen in the new Breakfast set) instead of a desk. Also really good quality skyline backdrop - the empty newsrooms are no more!
Also some really interesting and great looking BBC Sport graphics that I've not seen anywhere else. I hope these are going to get rolled out everywhere.
Yes, it's looking really good.
They're the same Sport graphics that Newsline have been using since moving into their set.

Very impressive. It's the little touches like the coffee table lighting turning from red to yellow for the sport that make it look even better. They made good use of all parts of the set without it feeling tedious too.

Not a fan of the curved table, but the screens and area for explainers is much better.

It's clear to see how the sets are going to look uniform across regions, though I wonder how many behind the scenes changes were made considering all the on-screen graphics were still faded on and off instead of animated
Having a look at the sport graphics, it seems they are a recoloured version of the News Channel / Sportsday graphics, swapping the textured dark blue for white and replacing one or two of the lines with BBC News red.

I'm not a fan of sofa-bound reporting, but that new EMT set looks very nice. I've just watched the whole programme, and it's versitile enough to create a completely different tone instantly by throwing to a correspondent/reporter a few feet away or standing by the 'minilith'.
It's a good use of space, but of course that means in the larger studios such as Brizzle/Plymouth/Newcastle etc, the rest is left idle.
I rather like that they adopted the backdrop of an adaptable city view that Plymouth have used (albeit not LED screen) since 2015. Much better than a fake newsroom.
EDIT: I don't like the sofa, which is the same design as going in the new Breakfast/Sport space in Salford. It looks as though it's constructed from seats stolen from a skip outside a regional rail franchise storage yard.

Anne looks very GMTV Aged and I would have used Dominic or Marie Ashby

Anyone getting a feeling with the regional sets that for the first time since the original corporate look in 1999 this is the first time the regions were factored in fully in a new look to a national standard?

Both long gone from EMT now sadly, although the new crop of presenters are very good. Think BBC East Midlands is very strong atm
