Looks like 4Creative were not alone in making this rebrand possible, Pentagram were also involved as well!

Type agency NaN reworked the Neville Brody fonts by adding Extended, Condensed for Headline and Semibold for both 4 Text and Headline. Sound design is by the agencies Factory and SIREN, idents coming later this summer were created by Art Practice and Time Based Arts, social media graphics were done by Stink Studio together with Pentagram and 4Creative.

Some good old marketing speak in that - they're going for the "bringing the iconic blocks back together" line though of course they somewhat did that a couple of years into the last rebrand with the logo now visible in the break bumpers and promo endcaps, and of course on the All4 logo itself.
Hopefully the new idents arrive soon - and there are more than four of them. Similarly if branding elements are to be extended to other channels ideally that would all have been done together rather than phased in too - they managed it when they changed all the logos, no reason it shouldn't have been the case this time.
Looking at the Pentagram case study though it seems the new identity is based around a cube, either explicitly or implied.
Still not sure on the green logo but guess they needed a colour scheme nobody else was really using. (Oh, according to the marketing babble the green is to reflect the "alternative spirit" of the channel)

I am a bit surprised there have been so many design firms involved in this, as I find it a pretty poor, generic and uninspiring package overall, particularly the choice of that garish shade of green as the primary brand colour. I don't find any of it an improvement over the previous look, with the exception of the new weights of the custom typeface. I'm going to miss the lovely C4 block graphics on the ECP, the programme menu, the break bumpers and the end of trails.

I'm getting a BBC Two Curve ident style vibe here, with numerous designers and different ways of showing the core logo. It's all so promising.

I just hope there's some promise of more variety as shown by the reels on the agencies' sites.

I do wonder if these will take a similar approach to the last ITV2 set and rather than individual idents we just see glimpses of each within the idents, especially as a couple of those don't obviously take on the cube form.

I do wonder what the story behind the green 4 is given the box ident (if you can call it that) when first launched had a silver/white 4 and has only changed to green with the launch of the wider package.

Actually, there is a lot of playing field here for actual idents! Remember that the much loved Squares era of Channel 4 had an evolution of the motif over its history.
"Please stand by for further details, as we return you now to your regularly scheduled program. Hopefully."

Taken from the media leader 'The broadcaster will soon unveil a series of brand-new idents later this summer. Using an infinite loop, they are designed as an “inclusive system that welcomes diversity of expression”.'
