Quite sad to see Christine Romans leave CNN and especially her show. Early Start is one of the better shows on the schedule, I hope it continues in its current format.

That's a good question - Early Start does not appear in the archived online schedule until second half of 2019, when the first hour started of then two-hour-long show started simulcasting.
And yet the screencaps show that Early Start with Romans and Berman made its way to international screens way before that... Was it just billed as "Newsroom" in the listings?

I believe it was when the London Newsroom editions (when they were more than 1) were scrapped and Max Foster was moved to cover Kristie Lu Stout's Newstream slot with a new edition of Newsroom. Sometime around July 2019.
Given that Early Start started when Starting Point replaced American Morning, it's only been relatively a very short time.
Worth noting from the Variety article shared earlier that Early Start will stay
Quote:CNN is expected to keep “Early Start” on the schedule, but will use a rotating array of anchors until making a permanent decision about assigning talent to the show.

Ali Velshi anchored AM: Wake Up Call from 05:00 to 06:00 ET, with the first half hour simulcast. The program only aired from June to December of 2011. Early Start premiered in January of 2012. Christine Romans and John Berman anchored the show together from January 2014 to February 2017. During that window the CNNi schedule had quite a few changes between Rosemary Church's sign off at 4am and Kristie Lu Stout's sign on at 8am ET (1000 to 1400 CET).
04:00 ET (1000 CET)
1/14: World Business Today
4/14: [04:00 CNN NewsCenter with Monita Rajpal] [04:30 Featured Program]
7/14: [04:00 CNN Newsroom] [04:30 Featured Program] or Early Start MH17 coverage

06:00 ET (1200 CET)

For those suggesting that the 5am ET hour get turned into a second hour of Newsroom with Max and Bianca… I’m not sure how that would even work.
A single overnight team handles all of the programming from 12a-5a. Adding yet another hour seems a bit much.
Having the Early Start team just handle a second Max/Bianca hour also doesn’t make much sense.
Don’t forget there are quite a lot of style differences between CNNI and domestic. The Early Start team would have to adjust if they suddenly switched networks.
Remember Early Start used to be 2 hours. They only lost the 4a hour at the start of the pandemic.
Maybe when they pick new full time hosts, they can expand Early Start back to 2 hours!
