Could I suggest splitting threads when a major pres change happens. I didn't even know Good Morning Britain had new graphics until I checked the thread today, but there are now 8 pages of discussion about it.

We'll generally assess such changes on a case-by-case basis. There's an increasing trend of tweaks and small-scale adjustments vs full relaunches.

Whilst it's an update to the programme's presentation, we decided it wasn't significant enough to merit a new thread.

However, we will endeavour to flag changes like this in future using a site-wide announcement banner.

I know its not a nice subject to discuss but what is the stance on Obituaries? I know that there were a lot of posts about Michael Parkinson but I can't see anything on Jean Boht or Mike Yarwood. Would an "In Memoriam" thread be suitable or tributes in general threads be more appropriate?

This subject came up recently.

Threads relating to the death of a celebrity/actor/media personality are not considered within the remit of Pres Café. Unless the individual has a significant connection with broadcast design/presentation, we're saying don't create threads.

This subject is now covered in our Terms/Conditions/Rules (pres.cafe ), which all registered users should check in on regularly.

So, can we have a clear definition over our edit ability? Seems like it's changed from unlimited to none, then become within 12 hours after posting, and now 8?

T&Cs linked above suggests the edit period is 15 minutes!

I would respectfully suggest though that if moderation team is going to have an edit window (which is their decision of course) for posts, pick a value for that window and stick with it.

I think the blue place didn't have an edit window, until the thread was auto-locked about six months later. This approach seemed to work well over there, but I am aware that that platform was pretty much a custom job by Asa and wasn't an off the shelf package like this is, so you're sort of dependent on what you can add to it.

Not going into the detail but the edit window has been reduced as a result of the actions of a small number of individuals.

The forum is run off third party software and we are limited to the functionality/flexibility it offers. Regrettably, this is a case of the actions of a few affect the many.

The edit window will remain under review but if it is extended again, it is unlikely to be a substantial increase.

Could I suggest having a 'split thread' request, for when discussion has veered away from the original topic in/over multiple posts. Maybe as one of the options on the report to mod drop-down. Sometimes whilst the posts may be little to do with the original subject they can still be worthy of discussion.

Many forums work on the basis that you can edit until there is a reply, which works well but does prevent fixing a typo or broken link that a subsequent post points out.
