ITV’s This Morning - September 2023 onwards

This a really horrible situation for Holly. I hope she can put this behind her in time.

This Morning is still a strong brand and a strong show. The media attempts to destroy it over the Schofield incident have failed.

In Alison and Dermot they have strong presenters who can step in and I think they should get the “main presenter” roles. Both have proved themselves many times over.

Yes - it's basically what was I think initially a 90 minute show now padded out to 4 and a half hours.    Three consecutive shows similar in content, though guess you can argue the same about ITV daytime too.

This Morning will evolve as it always has done - the first and last year of Richard and Judy were quite different in tone without a point in between where there was a big change, and the same with Holly and Phil really.    Regardless of Holly and Phil leaving it is overdue a visual refresh anyway - I imagine that might come after Christmas now, or certainly next September at the latest. The current generic titles feel exactly like that - very generic and bland.

In the shorter term it'll be interesting how they handle Holly's departure today - it's never great when a long term host leaves off screen.    A possibility they may have Holly herself on the show, probably from home.    Would be nice if she got a farewell package, though the issue with that is her best moments are Phil's best moments, but perhaps less of an issue in showing them if the focus is on Holly instead.

They did not have the handover to This Morning on Lorraine just now, she just ended her show without the "coming up".

Special titles to say goodbye Holly, Rochelle and Craig presenting.

Obviously the circumstances are different to Schofield departure, so at least today’s show opener didn’t feel like an obituary and more of an actual tribute to Holly

It was really quite sad that they couldn't show any clips of Holly with Phil, so they hardly showed anything. They can't even do a beat bits collection as all her best bits were with Phil. Such a shame it all came to this with Phil and Holly, I liked them both and they deserved better

Guess the benefit of the hosting situation in recent weeks is they had plenty of clips of her with people other than Phil, but no "moments" really to flesh out to a full package.

A slight rewriting of history to show clips of her presenting the show with Alison, Josie, and Craig - none of whom she can have hosted more than a few tens of shows with at most - while not a single sight of her and Schofe presenting together appeared, despite them being 'the star pairing' for well over a decade... I get the thinking, but it's a noticeable omission.

The inclusion of “Family Comes First” in the tiles is a little bit strange! Almost feels like a parody.

Surely something like “14 Years On The Show” would’ve flowed better?

Maybe they'll do something at the end but showing a few clips as a bit of an olive branch to Phil too wouldn't be the worst idea. Suspect though that decision has been made by people outside of the This Morning production team.

One of Holly's best moments though was with Ben a few years back.

They couldn't use that clip in case that dog grew up to be an American Bully XL. I suspect there wasn't time to check.
