The Radio Stoke presenter is John Acres? In which case he's already been presenting Radio Devon's breakfast show for nearly a year, so surely he now counts as a local presenter?

The NUJ action - when they struck - was more effective in disrupting regional TV than local radio.
It felt like the action came very late in tge process too after the damage had largely been done.

I wonder if younger listeners, who they are clearly aiming for with the presenters, music choice and content will actually tune in to the new line ups?
Or will they not at the same time as alienating older listeners, resulting in falling numbers and more cuts down the line?

When you say young listeners who are you actually talking about in terms of age range. You can't compare the current local radio format with
Say radio 1 they both sound very different from each other

I can’t help thinking the industrial action came too late, with the damage having already mostly been done. No surprise that it’s been called off having won a small concession.

In a way, the NUJ were always going to be fighting a losing battle - but yes, it does perhaps raise questions as to whether they could've taken a different approach on this.
Presumably the work-to-rule that affected regional TV in particular is at an end, too? (i.e. bulletins not going to air, freelancers stepping in etc.)

Stereo Underground’s managed to regain its old Saturday night slot - by virtue of Radios Jersey and Guernsey (who have been sharing all weekend output for a while now) giving it a 6pm replay.
The move to midweek (Solent only) appears to have aided its presence on Sounds, too.

Likewise, Radio Wales veteran Adam Walton claimed his Saturday night Introducing show was the most popular of the bunch on Sounds.

Quite a lot of criticism for BBC Local running an all England show last night when many regions had significant flooding and a major incident had been declared in Nottingham.
Responding to news events quickly has never been the BBC's forte, but it should have contingency plans to maintain local output during events such as this.
