BBC News Channel/BBC World News Merger

Has there been any changes made or are things staying as normal? It made me think as the Pope is back in the news, is David willey still Vatican correspondent? I’ve not heard a report from him in a while.

I'm fairly certain that Willey left a wee while ago. I can see he's not down for coverage from the Vatican at the minute.

World business report was delayed by 15 minutes because of the king. It has now started still with the branding but with the over the shoulder shot of the desk just like in the afternoon.

Well that’s the one aspect of the merged service that I’ve liked to see studio E decorated with different colours other then the default, it’s a shame it’s taken a closure of the news channel to make it happen.

Just a couple of days before the merged service officially starts, and suddenly things starting to go wrong.

Yesterday, Shaun Ley presenting in his shirt on one segment because they have to replace his mic. Today, Martine's lapel did not work from the very start and had to put the technical fault card for a couple of minutes, while the headline bed is still playing.

The new BBC Annual Plan, published today, doesn't reveal much more about the new combined BBC News channel than we already knew - but I did spot one interesting detail.

We've already heard rumblings about some element of presentation from the main newsroom, related to analysis of the news. The Annual Plan makes mention of this, referring to a "Forensic Hub [working title] ... which will specialise in verification, disinformation and explanation". See image for full excerpt:

I wonder if the Forensic Hub name will stick around. I can't say I'm in love with it.

Apologies if this has already been mentioned, though I've had a skim through the previous pages and I can't seem to find any mention of it...

I vaguely recall mentions of content of some form coming from the newsroom, and I've just noticed these two screens, the vertical one on the left with the website, and the 'normal' one with the image of the Pope on the right, and it looks like they may be trialing these positions now.

Finding some TOTHs from last week, it looks like the screens were added sometime last week from Tuesday onwards.

There's also some sort of vertical monitor and railings (don't know how to describe it) installed at the interview flash cam section of the balcony. Pay attention to the balcony area right on top of the red arrow:

Sadly the hoop blocked off Studio J... Couldn't see if it has any sort of upgrade...
