This was a costcutting move almost a decade ago that eliminated the need for a person to do it. Typically its a foot pedal or a hand held device. I know some big city market dont do that for their major evening broadcasts at say 4-7pm and 10pm. It would be done on their early morning or midday newscasts. Is this already behind utilized elsewhere in UK News broadcasting?
Certainly on UK regional news broadcasts that anchors use the foot pedal.
I've seen the hand held device used on Sinclair local stations in the US, even on the morning shows.
