Instead it's desperately trying to survive against the backdrop of a hostile government that has threatened to end the license fee, has cut said license fee to the bone, and is in competition with streaming and digital rivals eating away at its audience.

I'd rather be in the early 2000s/fantasy land than put up with this nonsense from April!

Other news channels are available...

Nuala McGovern, who is on air now, is always excellent and I hope she's auditioning for the presenter/reporter role too!

The Guardian expect the channel to launch in 1st week of April, so the News Channel will close at 6pm on Friday 31st March if it's correct

Quote:The channel is expected to launch in the first week of April and will split into two feeds when it needs to cover big breaking domestic stories that are not of enough importance or interest to world audiences.

The Guardian has learned that Turness has asked for more home news on the station. Some UK politicians are likely to be unhappy that fewer of their constituents’ concerns will be covered by a station funded by licence fee payers but aimed also at audiences abroad, where it will be allowed to sell adverts.

Doesn’t sound good

I’m surprised she’s even seen as a ‘News Channel’ presenter rather than a ‘Network’ presenter, as surely she’s practically the main presenter of the One

This would be because the previous bod brought in to oversee the merger walked a matter of minutes after hanging his coat up in the US office…

Again: making it up as they go along.
The previous bid was charged with US Digital not the launch of the new channnel.

I've always been a fan of Paul Royall. Used to be consistent with dropping the Ten running order in Twitter but now a bit sporadic. He's also a regular guest on Newswatch and always provides good context to the issues put to him. I'm surprised to read he's stepping away from his role as editor of 1, 6 & 10 for what will be a sink or swim merger/creation/launch.

Isn’t it because the Editor of NC & World is on maternity leave?

Wasn’t expecting Jane Hill to be in that list they basically got rid of all the news channel presenters there was no process they’ve kept the world presenters on.

I really hope Jane is the presenter of the final hour, it would come full circle given she was one of the launch presenters and the only one left.
