For everyone's reference, here's the list of shifts on WN currently:
Definition
A shift means the presenter and the production team has to be on standby ready to go on air in moments notice at a specified period of time, EVEN if it's currently in recorded programming/back half programmes...
For example, the Global shift presenter (Matthew Amroliwala) has to be on standby during Focus on Africa if there is breaking news during 1730-1800.
Weekdays (where 1900-2200, 2300-0600 is simulcasted with NC)
0500-0700 [2 hrs] Early Morning Shift (Sally Bundock/Victoria Valentine)
0700-1000 [3 hrs] Morning Shift
1000-1300 [3 hrs] Live Shift (Lucy Hockings)*
1300-1600 [3 hrs] Impact Shift (Yalda Hakim)
1600-1900 [3 hrs] Global Shift (Matthew Amroliwala)
1900-2100 [2 hrs] Outside Source Shift (Ros Atkins)
2100-2200 [1 hr ] The Context Shift (Christian Fraser)
2200-2300 [1 hr ] WNA Shift (Laura Trevelyan/Jane O'Brien)
2300-0200 [3 hrs] Newsday Shift (Karishma Vaswani)
0200-0500 [3 hrs] Overnight Shift
*1000-1100 is a NC simulcast BUT the presenter will still be on standby if WN decides to air a separate bulletin, just like this morning
Weekends (where 1000-0600 is simulcasted with NC, 20 hours of simulcast!)
0600-0900 [3 hrs] Early Morning Shift
0900-1400 [4 hrs] Morning Shift
