Another couple of now well-known names who started out on News 24 overnights are Joanna Gosling and Rageh Omaar. Both around the year 2000, give or take. Clarence Mitchell was also on overnights at that time.
Heather McCarthy and Martine Croxall started them in about 2001, as did Alastair Yates (although I think he had been on overnights during the flags era). Other names from 2001 include Deborah MacKenzie and Susan Osman of Points West fame who always did Sundays.
From the flags era, I think I've seen examples of Jane Hill, Bill Turnbull, Adrian Finighan and Samira Ahmed on the overnights as well. It really was a training ground.
Is my memory foggy or did TV Forum's very own Nicky Schiller have to step in one time as one of the names above had fallen asleep somewhere in TVC?
