Yeah there will probably be some 30 second highlight thing (a snippet of the colorful flags) introducing the new thing as a natural evolution of the old (be careful not to show the faces of those that are gone), rather than a dramatic resource restructuring, driven simultaneously by complex necessity and undue destructive force.
but any kind of on-screen acknowledgment of the change would be the decent thing to do, in respect of audiences and the fact that the BBC does aim to play a vital role in public discourse. It feels like sweeping it under the rug otherwise, and it makes what should seem like (or is to be presented as) a positive and pivotal change, instead a dark and dirty secret. Of course how pivotal can it be if it's not a substantial change for ofcom purposes. How do we say oh we're making necessary changes that totally suit the BBC for the future while at the same time saying oh it's nothing we're not even going to mention it. Sigh.
