However there are international audiences now seeing stories they are uninterested in at the expense, presumably, of stories they were previously more interested in. They are not being as well served as they were last week. Such is the fudge of combining the channels. Remember, the World feed contains all important advertisers (who pay based on audience figures) to fund/subsidise the channel. Less satisfied audience = less viewers = less advertising revenue = more cutbacks.
That wasn't at all the sense I got from DTV's post. If anything, they seemed to be thinking much more along the lines that you are: that there has been too much UK news on the channel today. I'd agree with you both, as it happens. I think if they're going to show World to us, they might as well give us full-fat international news (with UK news during World's advert breaks). After all, we have the 1, 6 and 10 for UK news, not to mention radio and the website. Of course, in an ideal world we'd still have the News Channel - and I still think other services could and should have been cut first. But, we are where we are. Might as well make the best of it.
