Martine said on Twitter today that she has 6 News Channel presenting shifts left. She also said that she doesn’t yet know what she will be doing after that.

And this sums up perfectly how badly this merger has been handled for BBC News journalists, presenters, producers, and other staff. Less than two weeks until launch...........

My understanding is that recruitment for the correspondent/presenter roles hasn’t even been completed.

Would BBC World News have devoted up to 4 hours of live, continuous coverage over to British politics from Westminster before March 2020?

Excepting general election night, no. More broadly, BBC World News very rarely took live coverage of any extended of these kinds of committee/news conference at all until fairly recently. It's certainly been mutating into more of a rolling news channel in the last few years (including slowing down to News channel pacing, which has in itself slowed down), but this is fairly without precedent and rather ridiculous.

I think it's ridiculous World is sticking with this total non event, it wasn't that relevant even when he was PM. The ''Partygate'' name is especially tabloid like. I'm sure people all over the world are desperate to know if Boris stood 1 m or 2 m from some other random person, years ago.  If we're lucky, we might hear what they were drinking.

There's a war going on and many other actual newsworthy events. A rare moment when one has to switch over to CNNI.
