I got the impression that nothing is changing, at least for the first few months - hence "soft launch" and no "big bang" start. No new graphics, no revamped sets - just the reduction in on-screen personnel and the clumsy balancing of international / domestic news.
It was reported that Lucy Hockings will get her branded show tomorrow. Also, Christian Fraser said that from tomorrow, The Context is back as 2 hour-long beast.
In terms of on-screen graphics, I understand from various reports posted here that nothing really big, but some adjustments will take place:
- High definition recreation of a globe
- No headlines
- New Chameleon-styled countdown
- BBC News red square in the intro is about to be replaced with a Chameleon-styled label, although not clear if this will be tomorrow or later. One might assume this also means repositioning of the globe, first since 2008.
I wonder why they haven't updated NC and WN schedules yet (at least about Lucy and Christian). May be tomorrow they will close both schedules as archival and open a new one, titled "BBC News", with UK as an additional region for the new channel (alongside Americas, Middle East, etc)?
