I vaguely recall that in management speak, that was a "fly-through" featuring "hero panels". Or something like that!
I wasn't a fan of this era, but that may be because it replaced something vastly superior rather than anything in particular about that branding itself.
My favourite design remains the look of the daytime bulletins from 1995-1999. Sheer elegance.
