I noticed a Sky News LiveU slate appear earlier on BBC News when a helicopter's feed went down.Yes, the coverage has been pooled with the BBC, ITN and Sky providing the facilities and sharing the footage which of course is also sent out to other broadcasters around the world. Logistically it's not that difficult, the plans for the coverage have been ready for many years so the agreements as to who does what are long standing. It's not just a case of having coverage of X provided by Sky and coverage of Y provided by the BBC, in some cases a camera shot might be provided by operators employed by two broadcasters - the walkabout of the King on Friday was an ITN provided camera but crewed by someone from ITN and the BBC
Are they all 'teaming up' and working together, are the BBC coordinating it all - it must be a bit of a logistical nightmare.
Would be interesting to know.
Technically the three have circuits between them and of course those feeds provided by satellite can just be downlinked by all three.
It's fairly common practise, albeit not before on this scale.
