I wonder if the black structure over Lester Holt's shoulder is the BBC's studio.

Certainly looks like it..

Did BBC One get timings a bit wrong? Coverage was meant to finish on BBC One at 5pm.

Lovely closing remarks from Kirsty Young on the BBC, delivered with real emotion.

That signing off from Kirsty Young was beautifully expressed.

I think the Windsor service started late, so the coverage finished late too.

The funeral as reported in Hong Kong, 19/9/2022. It's about 6 to 7 here, which means it's overlapped with the evening news.

The first one was TVB News Channel, who cut to the ceremony at 1742 (and remained so in PIP). No recordings of Special News Report on Jade and Pearl are available, so I guess the two channels continued normal programming as usual:
www.youtube.com

ViuTV (Ch.99) was on their 6pm newscast, so this automatically became their leading news:
[Footage blocked by BBC Studios]

ViuTV6 (Ch.96), like I said previously, suspended 2 cartoons for the funeral, which slotted in nicely with their 7pm news.

Over on i-Cable's Open TV (Ch.77), judging from the preceding PRC National Anthem and ident, I guess it was business as usual there as well, until their 7pm news:

As for HKIBC (Ch.76), it was simulcasting Bloomberg as usual, who was live broadcasting the funeral.

And finally, on the public broadcaster RTHK, Ch.32 had the live feed, albeit not til the end.

From Hong Kong, this is W. Knight, reporting for Pres Cafe.

The BBC NC and WN didn't opt out for their own filler when the network played the sombre ident in between the national bulletin and the end of the special programme. The viewers on NC and WN could saw the announcement "now on BBC One... the BBC News with Fiona Bruce, live from Windsor" before the national bulletin...

In some ways, it's a shame Trevor McDonald has retired, he woud have handled the last couple of weeks wonderfully.

I can't be the only one that thought the continuity announcement into the News at 5 was a bit too... jovial?

What does that say about a channel if it scares fish? Just talk me through that.

Was a bit of a shame because after all those hours it felt like that the end was kind of rushed.
