Also remember the average viewer (not the devout WWTBAM fans or TV pres geeks) doesn't watch or listen to the credits, so it doesn't matter.

Is what it would have been recorded with (excuse the quality - not my recording) - it demonstrates the issues - old premium rate phone number, another network (albeit ancient branding) and an obsolete medium (Teletext) - all baked into the programme.
Remember when Millionaire started they probably didn't imagine it would be rebroadcast for years to come, as it was 'event television' - they stripped it across the schedules and plugged everything about it to make the prize fund up and draw in viewers, so there was no alternative credits or ending cut to it.
