According to other articles he died on Wednesday, but had the aneurysm 10 days beforehand

BBC Scotland notes that according to STV, less than half of their journalists are NUJ members and that BECTU members had accepted the pay offer.

NUJ at STV last voted for such action when we saw drastic cuts to their news operations (STV2 closed, Edinburgh bulletins and STV News Tonight axed) six years ago - though a strike was prevented when the company ruled out compulsory redundancies.

IIRC, John MacKay is one of the senior union officials within the Glasgow newsroom.
