BBC/STV Scotland News

Just took a look on iPlayer - that pillar looks absolutely ridiculous. I've questioned the framing in Studio B at times but they just about get away with it but this one just feels so clunky and doesn't aid the presentation of images in the studio as much as the studio wall itself does.

Had a scan through Wales Today too as their AR equivalent looked better last I saw it, even if unnecessary - and seems it's so unnecessary they didn't even use it in tonight's bulletin. Newsline seem to use theres a bit better than Scotland though - feels like part of the set rather than plonked in the studio by mistake.

That Reporting Scotland it’s just a massive version of the English studios and looks very sparse and at times ridiculus, it needs a few elements like a staircase another screen on the right possibly a soft set as well.

Sure. It looks ridiculous, but sticking a staircase in the corner would make it look better. Got you.

It looks fine.

It does not look fine, but a staircase would definitely not make it better. In fact the staircase in B looks very out of place as wel, in my opinion.

A curved screen and catwalk on one side and a desk area on a platform on the other side would make it feel less empty. Basically B, but just smaller and simplified

It does look so empty. I don’t get the thinking behind having the desk crammed up in one corner and then the monolith in the other with this huge expanse of empty space. Like others have said it feels like they taken a step backwards. They just feel so sterile.

You don't usually see a handover from the desk to the vertical screen, I just meant it was a poor choice of shot for that transition - and they changed it the next night anyway.

I wouldn't welcome more stuff in the studio as the big screen is used to good effect for explainers and the weather:

Is that desk really a desk, or is it a standing-up place to lean and put your papers? Or high stools in use?
