BBC/STV Scotland News

It would also have been cheaper surely to have one long screen along the ‘back’ of the studio, but adding some different elements to the sides of the studio.
That's pretty much what I had in mind, though mabye down one of the sides of the studio and with the tower more central?

Just wondering, does STV still offer an opt out for viewers in Tayside from Dundee during the News at Six?

STV News at Six currently just a black screen. No apology slide from STV, over a minute in now.

We crashed into a report nearly 4 minutes in. No apology from presenters so far.

Apology from Courtney Cameron now and a replay of the top story.

Live Scottish Cup football (Airdrie vs Hearts) meant BBC1 Scotland got its own national teatime News at 4pm, followed by Reporting Scotland just before the match, allowing Jane Hill to do a specific intro.

I suppose not having a desk means that there's limited scope to hide a backup microphone.

Presumably there is a solution. Are we expecting the Towers in London don't have any backup mics?

Is there not a fundamental problem with using a double lavalier mic to provide both primary and backup audio, in that if there’s a problem with one connection, such as damage, accidentally being unplugged, or not plugged in in the first place, the same issue is highly likely to affect the other?
