Channel 5 Presentation Thread (Present Day -)

There is something a bit off about it, as if the template is slightly wrong. Think it's more what is being obscured making it look like that though, and it clearly being a 2D logo slapped over the footage when most of their special idents look like they've gone to more effort than that.

The still looks like a slapdash photoshop job - seeing it in motion obviously shows that more has gone into it than that but it really does feel a bit strange and uncanny.

If they ultimately kept Channel 5, it could be good for them especially with the Discovery catalogue.

A new year and more new idents, Its the first of two. As that what appearing on the billposters. It seems every time Ch5 has billposters that what gets the idents.

These programme idents seem to be churning out weekly, but at least this one glaringly stands out!

Interesting article here on talks with David Ellison (son of the billionaire Oracle owner Larry) over the sale of Paramount Global. This is the key bit on Channel 5:

Quote:They may try to sell some assets, including BET (Black Entertainment Television) and Paramount’s international TV networks, but don’t plan a fire sale of the legacy TV networks.
Suggests Channel 5 could be looking for a new owner potentially. Not sure who might be interested. Channel 5 has been pretty successful in recent years, but we know the advertising market is facing a big squeeze at the moment, and it isn't clear if or when that might end.

The thing is that a lot of its success is through being part of a large multinational media company, Paramount. Operationally being part of a bigger corporation has been good for 5, cut a lot of costs too. That's enabled Ben Frow and his team to do such a good job with it's programing, which has been great the last few years.

Who would buy it and what form that would be in is interesting, how they'd seperate it from Paramount for example. As it stands it's not a seperate entity
