Channel 5 Presentation Thread (Present Day -)
#11

Nice to see C5 doing more of these special idents, like for Neighbours and The Catch.

I think another one premiered on Sunday before 'Dinosaur with Stephen Fry' with scenes as a dinosaur goes through its lifecycle ending with the 5 surrounded by a circle of bones. Nice breakbumper too.

They seem to go through cycles of really making an effort with presentation (as they did during the last ‘FIVE’ set of idents) and not really being bothered (as they did for much of the 2010s). It’s good that they are making an effort now. Not a lot of channels do anymore.

They do seem to go through cycles. Launch a new look, rigidly stick to  for a while, start introducing variations of trailer end boards for specific programmes or themes, and then idents start. A lot of the trailer end boards are “non-standard” at the moment.

Think the dinosaur ident premiered on 12 February.

And here's the ident link in question:

It was used the previous weekend too. This example from early evening on 12th February:

I found it rather sad most people just don't seem to care about presentation. Here is a brand new piece and people just flutter buy yet Brookside comes back online and there is a mad rush.

Ch5 has been making plenty of Special promo end broads but its a routtlee when it come to them becoming idents.

The Dinosaur one isn't; a classic but in the world of drab presentation it deffo give people who are interested something new to enjoy,

Presentation has always been a niche subject and most people don't think about it. There are so many channels nowadays that it's more a case of arranging a personal schedule then analysing a 5 second ident accompanied by music and or/VO. But on the flip side it means those of us who do appreciate it can do so with peace and quiet.

Yeah, there's so many channels nowadays that it's easy for even the most dedicated pres fan to miss something. We can't watch 100 channels at once, after all.

And in the case of C5 taking away shows like Neighbours and the evening showing of Home and Away are two fixtures in the schedule where many viewers may have caught their trailers and presentation on a daily basis but no longer do.

Just tuned into a Britpop show and it had "Brand New" under the DOG briefly, presumably it's just come back from a break. Is this a new thing?

They usually do that when a episode being shown has never been aired before
