The son of one of the original writers has withdrawn permission for the 'An Unearthly Child' serial (or 'The Tribe of Gum' as he and nobody else wants to call it) over an apparent dispute over related royalties. He claims that the episodes cannot be shown.
On first glance, this individual does not come across as the nicest of people in his first impression to me via his Twitter thread - he seem very worked up and angry at anything to do with this show and a little deluded (I highly doubt the BBC was involved in his father's death for starters). He has previously tried to cause a fuss with the BBC over the loyalties over the creation of the TARDIS a decade ago, and I don't see that anything came out of that. And if I had to bet, I'd say the Unearthly Child epsiodes will appear on iPlayer on November 1st.

Once again, all down to money - even after all these years - I wonder what "pittance" was offered to him by BBC Studios, i bet it was more than most people earn in a year.
