Doctor Who

How's this for planning ahead? He hasn't appeared on screen yet, but Ncuti's second series (2025) is now filming.

No surprise as dramas film way ahead of when they air - the days of filming closer to transmission are long gone

Either RTD or the BBC chose to not air the 60th specials spread out over 2023 and instead concentrating it all into November 2023, which means as of today we have had no new Doctor Who for a whole 12 months.

RTD has promised fans no more gaps, no more years off for Doctor Who under his second tenure - he promised a series and a Christmas special every year.

Even if it's not the original Series 11 prop(s), it's still the same unaltered design from 2018 - unusually long for the TARDIS exterior to not be subject to any kind of noteworthy changes in appearance. It's not as bad as the Newbery prop, but I still can't warm to it - too much box, too little blue.

They've just released a cool little BTS of how they filmed David's half of the regeneration from Power of the Doctor

The anniversary specials will air weekly from Saturday November 25th.

Yesterday saw the announcement of two new writers for Series 14 (the one airing in 2024).

Something that I saw mentioned online yesterday is that one of the two was involved in Disney+'s Loki, which was criticised by Russell T Davies for its approach to Loki's sexuality. Obviously they have overcome any differences (differences which might be more down to Disney than someone like the director).

So three weeks of new episodes, then one more two weeks after that (the Christmas special)?

They should've released the Tennant specials two weeks earlier, the way they've done it is not only entirely after the anniversary date, but also means the Christmas episode will be trailed before the second and third anniversary specials have aired (due to all of the Christmas lineup being promoted from the start of December), leading to possible spoilers. No way that they wait until December 9th to launch the Christmas idents and trailers, they'll be a week earlier.

The trailer/promo for the Christmas Special won't start until The Giggle has aired anyway, so all the main BBC One Xmas trailers will likely include is a few odd shots of Ncuti as Fifteen and Millie Gibson as the new companion

Just look at how EastEnders has been increasingly cut out of the main BBC One Xmas trailers over the last few years.

The BBC have also released these incredible posters for each of the three 60th specials this evening

Disney+ have also launched their own cut of the 60th trailer tonight ahead of Doctor Who landing on the platform in a month's time, it's all ramping up now

Guessing 2 of the 3 specials will be introduced by Christmas idents.

Yes, surely those will launch before either Who or Strictly (whichever has the earlier timeslot) on 2nd December, or before The One Show on the 1st. Definitely that week.
