It's better than a pair of sunglasses, as used by 12 for a while. Dodgy

Quite alarming that entire sections of dialogue were successfully leaked in July 2022, despite being filmed in the studio.

Leaking is a persistent problem in many shows, but this series has had its fair share recently. I was aware of the biregeneration a few months ago (thankfully I wasn't expecting it that early in the episode so it was a bit of a surprise) and there was plenty of other stuff that was known online ahead of time (even stuff from the second episode and below that was studio based).

There's a certain production account that I think does far too much.

That tweet is 17 months old, and that dialogue is absolutely correct! How the heck did that leak so far in advance? Confused

Because it was filmed that far in advance - according to Unleashed, the regen scenes were filmed in late June 2022

Yes, it was all filmed 18 months ago, and I think Ncuti's entire first series is already in the can or at least in post-production.

This seems to be a new thing now under the new Doctor Who, they film so far ahead of transmission. I remember during Tennant's first tenure, they would film a series over nine months, but it was always far closer to transmission than what they have now.

So, if they do continue to film so far ahead, which is what will happen as Ncuti is filming his second Christmas special already, it will lead to leaks happening.

Post production now takes alot longer due to special effects. Most sci-fi series now spend 9-12 months in post.
Series 2 filming started back in Novemeber so the Christmas special has already been filmed.

Well RTD and his team need to be strict over leaks - surely NDAs must be signed by production staff working on the show?

Of course, like everything, some things are bound to leak, and that can be an advantage to RTD and the team, as the odd leak is good to have, especially if there is a long gap between seasons - RTD has promised no more long gaps.

They used to film 13/14 episodes in 9 months, but now, the 60th specials alone took 3 months to film last year. Whilst for the 8 episode S14/season 1 with Ncuti and Millie, filming started in December 2022 and didn't wrap until July 2023

Like someone else said, the much longer period needed for FX/post production now contributes massively to the longer production timescale
