Could be they’re just much more careful now, and Apple are more on top of checking.
Sure I’ve read in the past that one of the things that made sure Apple were very strict on song usage (although they always were) was all the way back when John Hughes used ‘Twist and Shout’ in ‘Ferris Bueller’s Day Off’ and then dubbed a load of horns onto the track.
What hasn’t changed is that it was always for UK broadcast (and now streaming) only. International versions and commercial releases have always needed to clear music (impossible or way too expensive) or replace it with library alternatives (what actually happens).
