It seems like the closing announcements on BBC One have become very sober over recent months. Even from the likes of Duncan who has been on for the last couple of nights. Rarely a “goodnight”, no plugs of forthcoming shows, it’s just a typical “now we join the BBC News overnight”. It was often a mixed bag depending on the announcer on duty but now seems the norm. Maybe an edict from above?
I'd say it would fit on the Closedown thread, because its musing about the past, but I see your point. Maybe there's a sense of 'Very few people actually stay up this late' so they feel there's no point. On a technical level, that's not untrue, but its nice to have. A bit like having a clock before the news, there's that level of 'they actually care'
