"Backstage" at BBC Breakfast:
An enduring mystery: whatever happened to the original BBC Breakfast Time sofa?
Mystery solved: most of it ended up in a skip. But in an unexpected twist, former Miss United Kingdom and previous Breakfast Time presenter Debbie Greenwood...
...managed to save a segment of that original sofa, which she still has in her home (!):
Other old faces that popped up today included Debbie Rix (the first BBC Breakfast Time newsreader), and Russell Grant (the programme's former resident astrologer).
A frequent observation by many of these old hands - as well as the current presenters! - is how lovely and squishy and comfy the original sofa was, compared with how horrible and uncomfortable the current sofa is ("it's like a plank!" / "it's like Velcro, it just sticks to you!" / "Do you have a back problem [with the current sofa]?" "Always.")
