You forgot KTLA. They are debuting a new set soon, which, although it will have all that Nexstar look, it looks like they are taking a much more custom, SoCal-oriented direction for it. KTLA's entertainment reporter Sam Rubin offered a sneak peek to it this morning on the Morning News.

Some more local affiliate news...

Gray's affiliate in Gulf Coast (WLOX, ABC/CBS) and Meridian Mississippi (WTOK, ABC) are being renovated, citing a December 2022 and early 2023 launch respectively.

Over in Oklahoma, Griffin's CBS affiliate KWTV had just moved to Century Center downtown, donating their long-time studio on West Kelley St. to Langston University's Journalism programme:

The weather center has to remind me of this…

youtu.be

However, a station in the middle of Tornado Alley has to have a weather center of this size. In general, I don’t like the new set. It is a very lightweight knockoff of the Nexstar sets done by FX Group, and it is just poorly lit and badly bare bones for a well-resourced operation like the Griffin ones. To make things worse, the first show was badly beset by technical problems with the new control room automation. Here’s how it looked:

Later, the Griffin-wide OK Sports Blitz had the same technical issues, which led to the cancellation of Segment B (replaced by a breakdown slide) and the rest of the show being presented solo by John Holcomb and produced out of Tulsa.

An update on this: Rehearsals in the new set done, ready for relaunch on Wednesday afternoon, per the station's business reporter David Lazarus:

In another news: Former Fox News anchor and now frequent NewsNation appearance Bill O'Reilly is billed as a "contributor", which was denied by the network but his own Tweet says otherwise:

And the new KTLA set is live… Great set imho, a SoCal-friendly adaptation of the Nexstar set designs by FX Group. The 2017 graphics and Connect (WCPM) are still being used.

EDIT: The new set is not a FX design nor an internal design by Lance Schroeder. TVNewsTalk.net insiders say the new set is from Jeff Hall/JHD Group. With that said, really surprised that Nexstar went another way for the new set. However, it still retains the Nexstar set flavour but in a very cool SoCal vibe.

This window frame reminds me of Breakfast Time:

But still, a very impressive set for a Nexstar station.

According to this feature report on the KTLA website, it looks like Nexstar allowed KTLA management to select their set designer instead of being forced to take FX's or Lance Schroeder's cornered set designs, hence working with JHD Group. Alongside the main anchor desk, there is a multipurpose LED screen area (used mostly for weather and traffic), a performance area and a living room space, with no in-studio weather center (which is still separately housed on the stage which houses KTLA's newsroom). They also told the former BDI set has been donated (as customary in the business) to universities and colleges in and around SoCal.

It is probably one of the nicest local news sets in the US I've seen. I think here, Nexstar knows that KTLA is A) their 2nd biggest station (or 1st since they don't directly own WPIX (wink wink)  and that station brings in alot of money and  would let them have more freedom than say a station in  their smaller markets.
