Indeed. This is really a superior set to most Nexstar stations nationwide, but, as you said, KTLA's importance as a top-billing station allows them to get a more decent space to most of its sisters.

In other news now... TVNewsTalk.net insiders continue to get access to leaked previews of the new CBS News O&O package set to debut with CBS News Detroit's launch, which has been delayed as behind-the-scenes issues have hampered plans to meet the late November deadline. Other insiders report the new offerings will launch until January.

The new preview is a look at WBZ's evening open, with a new cut of a package featuring CBS' new sonic mnemonic...

Additionally, CBS News has announced they have taken the decision to temporarily suspend their Twitter accounts given the recent news happening inside the company, as correspondent Jonathan Vigliotti reported on the CBS Evening News today. The measure affects all CBS News areas, from the local O&Os to the national newsroom:

Gray's affiliate in Gulf Coast (WLOX, ABC/CBS) and Meridian Mississippi (WTOK, ABC) are being renovated, citing a December 2022 and early 2023 launch respectively.
An update: WDAM in Hattiesburg (NBC/ABC) has moved into a temporary set as well:

Wow, that’s bad even for a temporary setup. They could at least have ironed that backdrop…

Yikes not great at all. Looks a bit like a community TV channel set up or a college newscast.

That temporary set for WDAM looks like a setup that was built in your local community centre.

What part of the USA is Hattiesburg located?

Mississippi. It is located close to Jackson.

Still with Gray’s stations, WHSV just got a new set, and it’s the standard Gray small-market set by FX Design Group.

Silly virtue signaling. What exactly is the point of this little stunt? They are already the least watched US news network and now they are going to limit their online reach as well.

Devastating tragedy affecting Gray-owned WBTV today: their Sky 3 helicopter crashed in the I-77 this midday when on duty, killing meteorologist Jason Myers and pilot Chip Tayag.

twitter.com

Tegna-owned competitor WCNC was the first to confirm the chopper came from WBTV, but rightly did not announce the identities of the two employees, which WBTV later announced. WCNC, in an act of solidarity, announced that it was placing a guestbook on its website and social media platforms, and other Gray stations nationwide are doing so too. WBTV preempted regular CBS and syndicated programming for special news coverage, which is also being taken by sister stations’ online platforms, including flagship WANF/Atlanta News First.

Additionally, as the station is beginning to face staff shortages as memorial services get underway, talent from Gray co-owned sisters WIS in Columbia and WHNS in Greenville are starting to fill-in on air; WIS meteorologist Adam Clark is filling in for Al Conklin on tonight’s evening newscasts.

KCAL's new super-sized morning newscast, designed to rival KTLA's Morning News and KTTV's Good Day LA, will launch on December 5. The new program will be named CBS News Los Angeles This Morning, and will have three separate segments mirroring the schedule employed by KTLA: 4-4:30am, anchored by Kalyna Astrinos (focused on traffic, weather and developing stories), 4:30-7am (strictly focused on hard news, the 6am hour will be simulcast on co-owned KCBS, sandwiched between the Eastern and Western editions of CBS Mornings) and 7-11 am, anchored by Jamie Yuccas and Rudabeh Shahbazi (mixing hard news with lifestyle and entertainment). The supersized newscast is the brainchild of Mike Dello Stritto, which is trying to ape the success of Good Day Sacramento, which expanded from KMAX (CW affiliate) to co-owned KOVR after he took over the News Director post at KOVR and KMAX.

That day, KCAL is also expected to debut a new set. They have been broadcasting from KCBS' set since this summer in order to begin the remodel. Reporter Chris Holmstrom posted a story on his IG channel with a sneak peek of the new set design, quite different to the CBS O&O designs.
