Why is the WNBC 4 NY set so bad? They are just standing or sitting at the glass desk in front of the newswall. You would expect more from New York NBC HQ.

Atlanta News First (WANF) have cut their 9am news bulletin to 30 minutes to squeeze in a local lifestyle show ATL Live from 9.30-9.55am.

This is followed by news headlines, traffic and weather for 5 minutes.

Caps from ATL Live appear to use the soft area of the news set and also the traffic/weather area.

Those lifestyle shows are money makers for these stations. Because alot of the segments are paid. Its a dicey grey area because some of the shows are produced and feature some of the employees from the news department. Hardly surprising really. So many stations have added these types of quasi-talk show programmes to their mid morning schedules. Jon OIiver's programme Last Week Tonight did a programme about them.

NBC News is apparently going all in on their NBC NEWS Now streaming service according to this article in the WRAP. Its seems they are peeling NBC News away from MSNBC and the network news product is aligning closer with NBC News Now and MSNBC is completely differently beast

Conspicuous lack of any mention of MSNBC there. Even when they mention rival news channels.

I'm sure most of us here are adults that aren't too easily offended, but that video should perhaps have had text above it for strong language and adult humour. Only in case there maybe some people accessing this forum for whom a video of that particular topical HBO comedy show wouldn't be suitable viewing, or actually are easily offended.

Yeah I think NBC News (network news product) itself for the last few years have "moved away" from MSNBC. Lester Holt used sign off Special Reports by telling viewers to tune to MSNBC for more or something like that. Now he says turn their streaming network NBC News Now. Plus the NBC network has give away an hour of airtime on their O&Os to NBC News Daily which is simulcast on the NBC network and NBC News Now. So they are really pushing the streaming product and letting MSNBC stand on its own and they are not having any trouble attracting viewers often beating CNN. So it seems this strategy is to capture the linear viewer and streaming viewer to their product. Lots of viewers for NBC News, NBC News Now, MSNBC combined....impressive.
